It’s finally a done deal. Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has been hired by FOX Sports according to multiple reports.
News broke earlier this year that a deal was in the works, but nothing was official until now. The network also announced the hiring of former USC standout and Heisman winner Reggie Bush. According to the network, both he and Meyer will be a part of an hour-long pregame show featuring Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn as well, and hosted by Rob Stone.
The show will be similar to ESPN’s College Gameday and begin on week one of the college football season according to the news release. Fox Sports president Mark Silverman had this to say about the newly formed gang.
“With a head coach that won three national titles in 10 years, two of the most successful college quarterbacks in recent memory and one of the sport’s most electric running backs, our new college football pregame show has the game covered from all angles,” Silverman said. “Not only will this all-star cast resonate with viewers because of their recent on-field accomplishments, but this group is going to have a lot of fun discussing the games each week.”
Count me into the population of folks looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. I’ll be tuning in to get a flavor of what Fox can bring with this star-studded cast of analysts.
