Urban Meyer is reportedly committed to fixing the Jaguars but no one believes it

It would be kind to call Urban Meyer’s tenure so far with the Jaguars tenuous.

Things have calmed down in Jacksonville in recent weeks and the focus has been football. But before that? Man, things were rough. And don’t get it twisted — they still are, really. It’s just quiet. There’s no Tim Tebow drama or bar scandal for the moment.

But one thing there is and will always be with Meyer are questions about his commitment to the team. More specifically, will he dip out and head back to college football where he made his name?

That’s an interesting question now that there are vacancies at two prime college football jobs in both Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

However, according to a recent report from the Associated Press, the answer is no.

“A person familiar with Meyer’s thinking said the 57-year-old coach is fully committed to the Jacksonville Jaguars and has no plans to return to college football. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Tuesday because Meyer has yet to make his plans public.”

Of course, this is what Meyer is going to say. He’s currently coaching for the Jaguars and is at the beginning of a long-term deal in Jacksonville. There’s no way he’d openly admit that his foot is already halfway out the door.

But football fans are smart. They know how Meyer works. And, honestly speaking, nobody believes this. At all.
