UPSRTC to run extra buses for Kanwar Yatra, set up 24-hour control rooms

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will operate additional buses for Kanwar Yatra pilgrims during Shravan to ensure smooth travel, officials said on Sunday.

A 24-hour control room will also be set up at every regional headquarters to monitor bus operations from the start of the yatra on July 30 until its conclusion, an official statement issued here on Sunday said.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Transport Dayashankar Singh has directed officials to ensure safe operation of corporation buses and passenger convenience.

Managing Director of the Transport Corporation Prabhu Narayan Singh said additional buses will be arranged for devotees travelling to Haridwar, along with major routes connecting Lucknow, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj, depending on passenger demand.

The officials have been instructed to provide facilities such as drinking water, clean toilets, seating arrangements, cleanliness, enquiry counters, public address systems and food stalls at bus stations.

During the yatra, buses will operate within the prescribed speed limits, while all drivers will undergo mandatory breath analyser tests to ensure compliance with road safety norms.

Regional Managers have been directed to mandatorily attend meetings convened by the Divisional Commissioner and the District Magistrate. Coordination will be maintained with the district administration and the police to implement route diversions and other necessary arrangements, the statement said.

Officials will use communication channels, including WhatsApp groups and telephone communication, to avoid disruptions in bus services.

The Transport Minister also urged UPSRTC staff to maintain a cordial approach towards devotees and provide necessary assistance, ensuring that bus operations do not hinder the Kanwar Yatra.
