Edinburgh vegans have hit out after an Edinburgh cafe used a drawing of cartoon character Peppa Pig to advertise a bacon sandwich.
Locals noticed a chalkboard sign at the Gordon Street Cafe, on Market Street in the city centre, that used animations to sell its meaty breakfasts.
The advert appears to show a cartoon that resembles the popular children’s cartoon Peppa Pig being ‘added’ to a sandwich.

The sign also uses a character that has a likeness to a cow cartoon from the children’s show The Magic Roundabout.
The bottom of the chalkboard has a yellow smiley face.
Many vegans took to social media to show their disgust at the use of the children’s characters, with one person hitting out, saying: “That’s going to make a lot of children question food. I support that but damn this is pretty sick."
One Edinburgh mum, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "Even if you are not vegan or vegetarian that could be really upsetting. My kids would be absolutely traumatised if they saw that sign, it's really not funny."
Another suggested that someone should 'use lipstick' to change the smiley face seen on the chalkboard to a sad face, while a third penned: “So insensitive.”

“That is horrid,” added another, “Every kids would be upset by this - like come on cartoon animals! Animals is bad enough without ruining the kid's find too! But munches!
The cafe has been contacted for comment by Edinburgh Live.
