In nine days' time, on December 30, my fiance and I are due to marry. This is our third wedding date in 18 months, having been scuppered twice by changing restrictions.
Now, here we are, with a week to go and no idea what to do.
Last weekend, every guest aged over 70, bar one, cancelled, including the groom's parents, because they are terrified of the "Omicron tsunami". But also unsure how scared they need to be.
My dad, who is 80, still hopes to walk me down the aisle but he is understandably wobbling about the 80-mile train journey to London. What should he do?
The reception venue, a pub, needs to place its order tomorrow for the 55 dinners we hope to serve. If they cannot serve them to us, who pays for that? Them or us?
What should we tell them? The flowers are ordered, musicians booked, a big red bus will carry guests... Most of this is already paid for but if we had some notice, we may yet salvage something.
Guests have trains from Glasgow, Sheffield and Leeds, with hotels and outfits bought. If this variant makes things too dangerous, then of course we will not risk it. But you are not saying that. You are not saying anything.
Now we face Christmas on our own, away from loved ones so as to keep ourselves safe for the big day.
But why? When will you tell us if our plans are in ruins? Again.
