INDORE: Around 60 per cent candidates of the total registered appeared in the Civil Services Prelims exam of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) from the city on Sunday. The exam was conducted in two shifts at 43 exam centres in the city.
Prelims had two papers -General Studies I and General Studies II each paper was of 200 marks and the paper had objective type questions.
The examinations were conducted in two shifts starting from 9:30 am- 12:30 pm.
As many as 17286 candidates were to appear from Indore of which 10400 candidates were present and 6886 candidates remained absent in the first shift making it 60 per cent attendance. In the second shift which commenced at 2:30 pm and concluded at 4:30 pm, 59 per cent candidates appeared for the exams as 10196 wrote the paper and 7090 abstained the paper II.
Three observers had come from Delhi, the SDMs were being instructed to go to their respective areas for inspection and one inspecting officer (IO) for each centre making up to a total of 43 IOs had been deployed too, Joint Commissioner, Sapna Solanki who was the assistant examination supervisor told TOI.
The examinations were conducted in a smooth manner with almost 50 per cent attendance at all the centres in three shifts. There were no unfair means (UFM) or any other issue at any of the centre. Candidates had been instructed to follow Covid-19 protocols during the examination, they had to wear a mask and were permitted to get a bottle of sanitizer too, said Solanki.
