UPPSC sets new record: 3,532 appointments in 100 days

PRAYAGRAJ: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), which till a few years ago was in the news for delay and controversies, is now making new records in terms of recruitment and filling vacant posts.

“The efforts of the commission can be gauged by the fact that we have made 3,847 selections for 22 departments and given 3,532 appointments in the past 100 days,” UPPSC chairman Sanjay Shrinet told the media on Saturday.

The commission has not only achieved its set target of 100 days, but has also created a record by selecting qualified people for more posts. Records of past 100 days till June-end shows that it gave an average of 35 jobs every day during this period breaking from the past practice of hanging on to vacant posts for years.

Around 315 posts had to be, however, carried forward due to non-availability of suitable candidates, he added.

UPPSC chairman said that the commission had set a target of conducting 22 recruitment examinations in the calendar released on January 5, 2022. Till June 30, 15 of these recruitment examinations have been successfully conducted. During this 6,907 interviews were also conducted. The commission has also paved way for departmental promotions to 607 posts of naib tehsildars after completing the process which had been pending for the past 6 years.

At the same time, along with completing the selections for 8,700 posts in the past six months, 15 recruitment examinations were also organized by the commission. Around 8.6 lakh candidates appeared in these examinations.

“We are making rapid changes on the lines of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), New Delhi for the welfare of the candidates and enhancing our working,” said the chairman.

The Commission is working fast to introduce “One Time Registration” for its recruitment examinations. Under this, the data of the candidates who have submitted their documents after applying once for the examinations of the commission will be kept safe. Due to which they will not have to submit documents again and again for different editions of the same recruitment exam, the UPPSC chairman said.
