Upper Hightown Road crash claims life of man

A man has died following a road traffic collision in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency Services were called to the scene on the Upper Hightown Road, Newtownabbey after 2am this morning, May 6.

Inspector Paul McCarron said: "The collision was reported to us at 2:20am this morning involving a grey Ford Focus that was located in a field in the Upper Hightown Road area.

"Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"I would appeal to anyone who was in the area this morning and captured what occurred on their dash cam to contact us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 105 of 06/05/20."

The Upper Hightown road has now reopened to traffic.
