A new upmarket hotel championing the heritage of Manchester will open in the city centre in spring.
The Reach at Piccadilly, located on Ducie Street, will be inspired by the heritage of the city-region by paying homage to some of Manchester’s greatest figures and by partnering with local businesses.
The 215-room property, which is named after its location at the meeting point of the Rochdale and Ashton Canals, will feature a bar, restaurant, and a fully-equipped fitness centre.

The 11-floor building, just a short walk away from Piccadilly train station, will feature a chic and captivating design, which has been ‘tailored to the modern, curious traveller’. The hotel’s design will also champion local heroes, such as the Duke of Bridgewater, James Brindley, James Rennie and William Jessop.
The canalside restaurant will feature an ‘eclectic mix of small and larger plates’, made from locally-sourced and seasonal produce. Guests will also be able to enjoy a continental breakfast or drinks and cocktails from the bar, including a Lock 84 IPA curated specifically by local brewery Seven Bro7hers.
The hotel will form part of Tribute Portfolio, a line of independent hotels from Marriott Bonvoy. The Reach will be the third Tribute Portfolio hotel to open in the UK and the second in Manchester, following Hotel Football in Old Trafford and the Great Northern Hotel in London.
“The Reach at Piccadilly combines local knowledge with striking design, a perfect fit for the Tribute Portfolio in the UK for 2023,” Sandra Schulze-Potgieter, Vice President for Premium & Select Brands at Marriott International, EMEA, said.
“This will be the third Tribute Portfolio hotel to open in the UK with a total of 20 hotels across Europe. All the hotels share a passion for captivating design, a vibrant social scene and thoughtful service; we look forward to this exciting new opening early next year.”
Peter Nye, General Manager at The Reach, added: “We have set out to celebrate the pioneering spirit of the past alongside the entrepreneurial spirit of Manchester today, and we cannot wait to welcome our first guests in spring.
“When creating the concept for the hotel, we have been conscious to create an authentic experience for travellers to enjoy. Our guests will be able to enjoy produce grown only a few miles away at the restaurant, drink a great cup of coffee which has been roasted around the corner, and we’re even working with local brewers to create a beer uniquely our own.
“As a member of Marriott Bonvoy’s Tribute Portfolio, The Reach at Piccadilly will be where the world meets Manchester , and our location – only a 90-second walk from Piccadilly Station could not be more convenient.”
The hotel is currently scheduled to open in April.
