'Upgrade!' - Arsenal and Spurs fans mock Alexis Sanchez after Daniel James scores for Man United

Daniel James' excellent start to his Manchester United career continued as he opened the scoring against Southampton at St Mary's.

Picking up the ball from Scott McTominay, the Welsh international cut onto his right foot before unleashing a powerful shot past Angus Gunn.

The goal was James' third of the season, after netting on his debut against Chelsea on the opening weekend, and against Crystal Palace in the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first summer signing arriving in an £18m deal from Swansea.

James signed a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year, and has already established himself as one of Solskjaer's most important attacking players.

His arrival may have been behind the decision to let Alexis Sanchez join Inter Milan on loan this week.

The Chilean forward joined Antonio Conte's side until the end of the season, with no option to make the deal permanent.

Since joining United, Sanchez has endured a miserable run of form and failed to recapture his performances seen at Arsenal.

James' goal against Southampton was his third for the club - already equalling Sanchez's tally in the Premier League for the Red Devils.

And rival fans were quick to point the unfortunate stat out, taking to social media to mock the 30-year-old.
