Updating Vegas Watch: Lions steady as 2.5-point underdogs at Raiders in Week 9

According to BetMGM, the Detroit Lions (3-3-1) have held steady as 2.5-point underdogs when they visit the Oakland Raiders (3-4) in Week 9.

BetMGM has a lot of various bet lines to wager on in this game, but here’s a look the basic concepts most would be interested in, including the Moneyline, points spread and over/under.

Moneyline

Giants -134

Lions +110

Points Spread

Giants -2.5 (-110)

Lions +2.5  (-110)

Over/Under

Over 51.5 (+110)

Under 51.5 (-134)

Lions Wire editor’s thoughts/predictions

The Lions Wire editors have once again split their predictions, but there was one common theme: they both expect a lot of points to be scored.

On the latest episode of the Detroit Lions Breakdown podcast, Erik Schlitt discussed why he believes this game has the potential to be a shootout with the Lions walking away with a 30-24 victory.

Jeff Risdon made his prediction in his Week 9 Football Meteorology article at RealGM, calling for Raiders 38-33 win. Here’s Risdon’s reasoning:

Matchups matter, and the Raiders have a decided advantage in one crucial matchup with the Lions coming to town. The Raiders offensive line and power run game with Josh Jacobs is a major problem for an underwhelming Detroit defense that struggles against aggressive schemes that can dictate the action. Oakland doesn’t do a lot of things well, but that’s their offense. Matthew Stafford will keep the Lions close, but unless the Detroit defense can create +2 in takeaways, it won’t be enough.
