Live updates as police cordon off entire park and road

A police cordon is in place around a road and park in Croxteth.

The cordon covers an area of Falmouth Road, Newdown Road and the whole of the park. A witness told police that a man, on foot, shot a gun towards a grey transit van.

One resident, who was outside waiting for the bus around the corner on Monday, May 23 at 5.30pm, said they heard bangs. One woman who lives nearby told our reporter her son was playing out at the same time.

She said: "He sprinted inside last night and dragged me out in my pyjamas to see the police. I thought he was joking but obviously not. It looks like it was a shooting."

Woman, 35, 'grabbed from behind' while jogging in park

A woman was reportedly grabbed by a man while jogging through a Merseyside park.

The 35-year-old woman was jogging through Sherdley Park, St Helens on Friday, May 20. She was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her and attempted to pull her.

The woman was able to resist and it is reported that the attacker let the woman go after spotting another woman. He demanded money but walked off when she told him she had none.

Manchester Airport passengers urged to 'avoid it like the plague' over huge queues

Manchester Airport has been branded "absolute and complete chaos".

Frustrated passengers have shared their experiences of long queues and baggage issues on social media. One passenger has even described their experience as "hell on earth".

One passenger, Mhari Oakes said at around 6.15am: "Hell on earth this morning @manairport - avoid it like the plague!!! Everyone missing flights despite getting there 3 hours before departure. Absolute and complete chaos. No check in staff."
