Updated UGA football injury report

On Monday, UGA football head coach Kirby Smart gave the media an update on various injuries that players on the team are nursing.

Right tackle Isaiah Wilson suffered an ankle sprain last week. About Wilson, Smart said, “He’s out of the (protective) boot, he’s able to put some pressure on it…He’s going to be doing some underwater running and doing some other things.”

Senior defensive tackle Julian Rochester is now cleared to play after recovering from an ACL surgery.

JUCO transfer cornerback DJ Daniel, who was held out of Saturday’s game, is continuing to sit with a hamstring injury.

Wide receiver Kearis Jackson will likely miss the next two-three weeks with a broken hand sustained during the week 1 win at Vanderbilt.

Backup quarterback D’Wan Mathis remains sidelined as he recovers from an emergency surgery this summer.

“It’s day to day, every day I ask,” Smart said of Mathis. “Hopefully one day he’ll be cleared. I don’t have a set timeline …  he’s been able to do more and more each week.”

Offensive tackle Owen Condon and and receiver Tommy Bush also remain out with injuries.

UGA next takes the field at home against Arkansas State on Saturday.
