Updated look at Chiefs’ 2019 draft picks following Frank Clark trade

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms to acquire DE Frank Clark from the Seahawks.

That’s going to shake up where the Chiefs are making selections in the 2019 NFL draft. The Chiefs surrendered their top draft choice in the later half of the first round, pick No. 29 overall, to the Seahawks in trade. As a result, they no longer have a first-rounder in this year’s draft, which is disappointing given they didn’t have one in 2018 due to the Patrick Mahomes trade.

The Chiefs did manage to keep three selections in the top 100 picks of this year’s draft, though. They even ascended eight spots with a third-round pick swap, adding some value in that round. In a class that is heralded as deep in the middle rounds, this was likely very important for the Chiefs.

Here’s a look at the new draft order for the Chiefs in the 2019 NFL draft:

  • Round 2: Pick No. 61
  • Round 2: Pick No. 63
  • Round 3: Pick No. 84
  • Round 5: Pick No. 167
  • Round 6: Pick No. 201
  • Round 6: Pick No. 214
  • Round 7: Pick No. 216

Knowing that Brett Veach likes his trades, don’t expect the Chiefs to stay put at any of these spots. They still have the ability to move around and be selective in the middle rounds of the draft.
