Police have named the teenager who died after getting into difficulty in the River Teith last week as Nieve McIsaac.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Tuesday, July 12 around 5.50pm, with reports of a 14-year-old girl in difficulty in a stretch of the river near to Carse of Lecropt Road in Bridge of Allan.

A frantic rescue mission was launched and she was pulled from the water and flown by air ambulance to hospital in Glasgow where she passed away on Saturday, July 16.

Following the tragic incident, Nieve's family have paid tribute to the teenager.

A family statement released via Police Scotland says: "Nieve was a clever, funny, and beautiful young girl.

"She was a much loved daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece, and we have been left devastated by her death.

"We wish to ask for privacy at this very difficult time."

Officers are providing support to the family and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
