Update on Broadmarsh car park as nearly all retail units now snapped up

Retailers have signed up for nearly all the new units at Nottingham's new multi-million-pound Broadmarsh Car Park and Bus Station.

While the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre remains closed after the collapse of owners intu, there's more positive news on the opposite side of Collin Street.

The new tenants haven't been revealed but property consultants FHP, who are acting on behalf of Nottingham City Council, said a mixture of independent, regional and national operators are set to open.

Construction work is continuing on the six units, alongside the new library and bus station.

Five of the outlets front Carrington Street, which will be pedestrianised, and one is inside the bus station.

Oliver Marshall, FHP associate director, said: "We have already secured five tenants out of six which really demonstrates the strength of the location and the confidence of prospective operators.

"The line-up includes a mix of food (grab and go and dine in), service and convenience with a great mix of independent, regional and national operators. There is one unit remaining and we expect to see good interest.

"Putting the shopping centre to one side this is going to be an excellent location. There is so much exciting development on-going as part of the Southside regeneration, which combined with the pedestrianised roads and existing businesses and footfall from the train station make for a promising environment going forward."

Development in that part of the city includes the new Nottingham College Hub, HMRC’s new regional headquarters for 4,000 employees and City Buildings, at the junction of Carrington Street and Canal Street, which is being refurbished into 40,000ft² of office accommodation - 75% of which is either under offer or let.

New residential schemes including the new 323-bed Vita Student development in Station Street.
