Update on armed police incident at south Bristol flats

Police will take no further action against two people arrested by armed officers in Hengrove.

A man, 31, and woman, 32, were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary shortly after 6pm on Friday, August 28.

One witness saw two police cars, one "Jeep-like" police vehicle and two "undercover BMWs" that evening, outside a block of Hengrove Lane flats.

She said: "I saw about four or five police officers searching a car at the property and officers with guns surrounding the front of the building."

In a statement at the time, Avon and Somerset police said the officers attended Hengrove Lane following an earlier incident at a property in Bishopsworth.

They arrested the man and woman, bringing them into custody before releasing them under investigation for further enquiries to take place.

Now a force spokesman has said: "No further action has been taken against either the 31-year-old man or the 32-year-old woman arrested due to insufficient evidence."
