Update issued into death of man winched from his home

The cause of death of a man who was winched out of a property in Moss Side has been confirmed by a pathologist.

Emergency services were called to Crondall Street on May 9 following reports of a concern for the welfare of a man. A man in his 50s was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Fire crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) attended to assist police officers - spending three hours at the scene. An upstairs window to the property was later removed as fire crews lifted a body out of the address using a crane.

A pathologist has now confirmed that the man died of natural causes and an investigation into his death has been closed. A representative for HM Coroner's Court also confirmed that no further information will be made public.

In a statement issued following the incident, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said there were believed to be no suspicious circumstances relating to the death. The statement added: “Officers were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man at an address on Crondall Street in Manchester just after 9.40pm on 9 May, 2022. Emergency services attended and a man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.”
