Update from paramedics after two hospitalised in Leeds Road crash

Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after they were hit by a car in Allerton Bywater.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance were called to the scene after the pedestrians were involved in a collision with a car in Leeds Road, shortly after 3pm on Thursday, December 5.

A Yorkshire Ambulance spokeswoman said: "Two rapid response vehicles, two ambulances, an air ambulance, the Hazardous Area Response Team and two doctors attended the scene.

"One patient has been taken by helicopter to Leeds General Infirmary and one patient has been taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary."

The driver stopped at the scene and LeedsLive has contacted West Yorkshire Police for more information.

The road remains closed between King Edward Avenue and Woodside Street.

The closure is causing long delays for motorists and bus passengers.
