Update after fire crews rushed to Kilmarnock town centre restaurant blaze

Fire chiefs have issued an update after they were called to a Kilmarnock town centre restaurant yesterday.

The Five Star Restaurant on the town's Titchfield Street raised the alarm and emergency service crews raced to the scene just before 4pm.

The eaterie, above William Hill bookmakers which was unaffected, backs onto St Andrews Street, and the fire service have confirmed that there were no reported casualties.

The restaurant is now back up and running as normal.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.56pm on Monday, January 6, to reports of a building fire on St Andrews Street, Kilmarnock.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene to extinguish the fire.

“There were no reported casualties.

“Crews left after making the area safe.”
