The upcoming 2026 movie schedule is headed towards summer, and A24 has a bunch of great movies still left on that schedule. The darling indie has already seen some great movies this year, most notably The Drama and the very scary Undertone. As usual, you can expect some more great A24 movies in this guide, including The Death of Robin Hood with Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, and Murray Bartlett, and Primetime (also with Pattison), coming later this year. Here's what we know about the A24 films that are on the way.
Backrooms (May 29, 2026)

Based on a mysterious Creepypasta, Backrooms is an animated, found footage-style YouTube series that explores an alternate dimension made up of a seemingly infinite maze of dingy hallways where bizarre and dangerous phenomena lurk. The viral sensation's young creator, Kane Parsons, partnered with A24 to develop and direct a big-screen feature adaptation of Backrooms starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Duplass, and more. The trailer for Backrooms dropped in March and immediately started people buzzing.
Backrooms hits theaters this Memorial Day weekend.
The Death Of Robin Hood (June 19, 2026)

We have not seen the last of the legendary thieving archer on the big screen, as A24 has landed the rights to The Death of Robin Hood. Hugh Jackman as the titular thief, along with Jodie Comer, Murray Bartlett, Noah Jupe, and Bill Skarsgård. Filming wrapped in March 2025, and we finally have a release date! A24 has released the first trailer, and frankly, it looks awesome. This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases from the studio.
This is definitely one of my most anticipated releases from the studio, and I can't wait for June for this one.
The Invite (June 26, 2026)

The latest movie from director Olivia Wilde, The Invite, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2026 and is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in June. The film stars Wilde alongside Seth Rogan as a married couple who decide they need to...well...spice up their love life. Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton also star in the comedy. The first trailer looks wild!
The Invite hits theaters at the end of June
Tony (August 2026)

The life of the late Anthony Bourdain will be dramatized in an upcoming biopic from A24 simply called Tony. From BlackBerry director Matt Johnson, the film will feature the breakout star from The Holdovers, Dominic Sessa, as the beloved chef and TV personality. Emilia Jones, Stavros Halkias, and Antonio Banderas also star. The first trailer for Tony dropped in May 2026, and it definitely sparked a lot of conversations. The film will be released in August, but we still don't have an exact date.
Primetime (September 2026)

There has been a re-evaluation of shows like To Catch a Predator lately, and Primetime, starring Robert Pattison, sounds like it might be another version of that idea, and I'm all for it. Like others, I've been wary of the way shows like the Chris Hansen-led infotainment show and other reality shows of the era exploited people, so hopefully this new one from A24 digs deep into that idea. In April, Deadline reported that Primetime is expected to hit theaters in September.
Elden Ring (March 3, 2028)

Alex Garland is set to continue his successful relationship with A24 with the studio's next video game adaptation. The Civil War and Warfare director is helming an adaptation of Elden Ring, which is a popular fantasy RPG created by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. I've never played the game, but I'm still excited about the video game adaptation because of the creative team involved.
Enemies (TBD)

Jeremy Allen White is no stranger to Chicago. The actor has not only shot his hit TV show The Bear in Chicago for years now, and last year, he filmed Enemies there alongside co-star Austin Butler. There hasn't been a ton of info on the movie yet, but given the star power, it sounds like a 2026 release is likely.
The Riders (TBD)

Conclave director Edward Berger will direct Brad Pitt in The Riders, a drama that will be produced by A24 in part with Ridley Scott's Scott Free. Paradise star Julianne Nicholson will also appear. Based on Tom Winton's 1994 novel, the film will follow a father and daughter searching for the man's missing wife in Europe. Production reportedly began in early 2026, though there is no official release date yet.
Misty Green (TBD)

Misty Green is written, starring, and directed by Chris Rock, but it sounds like something from a side of Rock that we've not seen before. It is a straight drama. Rock has dabbled in drama before, but from the description of this one, the comedian has gone all in, forgoing his trademark humor for a much more serious side. It also has a great cast that includes Daniel Kaluuya, Adam Driver, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, and Slow Horses star Rosalind Eleazar in the titular role.
Wizards! (TBD)

Even before he was seen starring in one of the best horror movies of 2022, Bodies Bodies Bodies, former SNL star Pete Davidson was already set to reunite with A24 for another thriller called Wizards! In June 2022, Deadline reported that Orlando Bloom had joined the cast of the film, written and directed by David Michôd from a story by him and Joel Edgerton, in which Davidson and Franz Rogowski play stoners who stumble upon loot that puts their lives at risk.
The movie was reported to have wrapped production in 2022 and was initially set for release in 2023, but here we are in 2026, and there is still no release date set for the movie, so the future of it seems in doubt.
The Entertainment System Is Down (TBD)

Writer and director Ruben Östlund’s follow-up to the Oscar-nominated Triangle of Sadness is yet another star-studded social commentary. According to Deadline, Kirsten Dunst and Keanu Reeves are among those set to star in The Entertainment System is Down as a group of international air travelers who must contend with their boredom when all means of entertainment on their plane suddenly fail. Production wrapped in April 2025, but it looks like we may not see it until 2027.
Altar (TBD)

Egor Abramenko, the Russian director of the 2020 sci-fi/horror flick Sputnik, is helming Altar, which will star Lily Collias, Hudson Behling, January Jones, David Krumholtz, and Kyle MacLachlan. According to an exclusive by Variety, the thriller is based on a short story about a young boy "forced to grow up" suddenly during one summer. There is no release date for the movie.
Flesh Of The Gods (TBD)

Kristen Stewart and Wagner Moura are teaming up with Esmé Creed-Miles, Roland Møller, and Alba Baptista in Flesh Of The Gods from director Panos Cosmatos. According to Deadline, the movie began production in May 2026 and is described as an "80s-set vampire thriller." That all certainly sounds very promising, but we don't know when the movie will be released.
Deep Cuts (TBD)

The Iron Claw director Sean Durkin's next project with A24 is the upcoming Deep Cuts. According to Deadline, originally Academy Award nominees Saoirse Ronan and Austin Butler were set to star in the adaptation of Holly Brickley's novel about two twenty-somethings' bond over music and their struggles with adulthood in the early 2000s. Due to scheduling conflicts, both Ronan and Butler have dropped out of the project, and in December 2025, it was announced in Deadline that Cailee Spaeny and Drew Starkey would be taking over the lead roles.
The Wives (TBD)

Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence is partnering with A24 and Apple for The Wives, which she is set to star in and produce. A24 will co-produce the film, which, according to Deadline, is described as a Real Housewives-inspired murder mystery. Filming was expected to begin in early 2026, but as of May 2026, we've heard nothing more about the upcoming movie.
The Masque Of The Red Death (TBD)

Mikey Madison proved her worth as a horror movie Scream Queen with her performance in 2022’s Scream. According to THR, the Academy Award winner (for Anora) is attached for another contribution to the horror genre with writer and director Charlie Polinger’s The Masque of the Red Death. It's described as a humorous, revisionist take on Edgar Allan Poe’s short story of the same name that A24 and Picturestart will produce.
Talk To Me Spinoff (TBD)

Following the success of Talk to Me, which some called one of the scariest movies in years, it is not so surprising that thrillseekers have another A24 horror movie franchise to look forward to. Just days after the acclaimed Australian shocker released, the company greenlit a follow-up called Talk 2 Me, which directorial duo Danny and Michael Philippou will helm, from a screenplay by Danny and Bill Hinzman. However, the latest news, according to Variety, is that the follow-up will be a spinoff, rather than a sequel, and it will be in 3D.
Barney (TBD)

Who could have anticipated that A24 would be involved in Mattel's plans to bring more of their properties to the big screen after Barbie, and that said project would be a Barney movie? Also involved in reviving the friendly purple dinosaur for cinema are producer Daniel Kaluuya and Ayo Edebiri, whose role is currently undisclosed. There hasn't been much more out there about the movie yet, but it's safe to say that people are very curious about this one.
Be My Baby (TBD)

According to Variety, Zendaya is attached to star in Moonlight director Barry Jenkins' Ronnie Spector biopic, based on the ’60s music icon's 1990 memoir, Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts, and Madness, or, My Life as a Fabulous Ronette. The project was announced in March of 2025, but there has been little news since.
Breakthrough (TBD)

Dwayne Johnson already has another A24 project to follow The Smashing Machine: a psychological thriller called Breakthrough. According to Deadline, the film, from writer Zeke Goodman, follows an impressionable young man who falls prey to a manipulative motivational guru, played by The Rock, in early 2000s Southern California. In June 2025, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Darren Aronofsky is set to direct.
Bushido (TBD)

Hiro Murai – known best for helming some of the best episodes of Atlanta and some memorable Childish Gambino music videos – is making his feature-length directorial debut with Bushido. The film, which is being produced by A24 with Square Peg and 2AM, is being described as a high-stakes samurai film, which is a genre that has seen a small-screen resurgence following the success of the Hulu original TV show, Shogun.
Death Stranding (TBD)

Soon, A24 will give its first video game adaptation a go. The studio has teamed with Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions to develop a film based on Death Stranding — an award-winning 2019 game set in a post-apocalyptic United States and starring Norman Reedus. According to Deadline, Pig and A Quiet Place Part II director Michael Sarnoski has been tapped to helm the project.
Famous (TBD)

Following his acclaimed performance in The Iron Claw, Zac Efron is reuniting with A24 for an adaptation of Blake Crouch's bestselling novel, Famous. According to Deadline, the actor will play dual roles — both a Hollywood star and his obsessed fan — in the thriller from director Jody Hill, who is known for his collaborations with Danny McBride. Production reportedly wrapped in December 2024, and there hasn't been anything announced, so this one seems to be on the back burner for now.
Onslaught (TBD)

Adam Wingard – director of horror films like You're Next and the 2024 monster movie hit, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire – is directing Onslaught for A24. Plot details about the action thriller are unknown for now, but THR reports that it stars Adria Arjona and Dan Stevens, and the camera started rolling in November 2024 and reportedly wrapped in January 2025, but there is still no date for release.
Peaked (TBD)

The Bear’s Molly Gordon made her directorial debut in 2023 with Theater Camp and, according to Deadline, she is making her sophomore feature with A24. Gordon also collaborated with SNL writer Allie Levitan to pen the film, which follows two women who were the most feared girls at the high school aspiring to relive their glory days at the 10-year reunion.
The Peasant (TBD)

Following his acclaimed revenge thriller, Monkey Man, Dev Patel is reuniting with A24 for... another revenge thriller. Deadline reports that the star of The Green Knight will write, direct, and star in the medieval period drama as a shepherd who wages a violent war against the knights who ravaged his community.
Untitled Elon Musk Biopic (TBD)

Controversial industrialist-turned-presidential advisor Elon Musk – who has had his fair share of movie and TV appearances already – will be the subject of a biopic in development at A24. Variety reports that Darren Aronofsky is set to direct the film, which will take inspiration from Walter Isaacson's 2023 biography about the SpaceX founder. When speaking to Gizmodo, Abigail actor Kevin Durand (who bears a striking resemblance to the wealthy South African) expressed interest in starring in the film. The film's current status is very much unknown, as there has been little news since it was announced in 2024.
As A24’s distinct brand and astonishing influence on the entertainment industry continues to grow, there is surely more to come. Also, keep an eye out for the upcoming A24 TV shows heading to the small screen.
