Upamecano, Werner and Olmo - Latest RB Leipzig team news ahead of Tottenham trip

Tottenham Hotspur are back in Champions League action this week.

Having finished second behind Bayern Munich in the group stage, the Lilywhites once again face German opposition at the round of 16 stage after being paired with RB Leipzig.

Interestingly, the north London outfit faced another Bundesliga side in Borussia Dortmund at the same stage last season and ended up going all the way to the final.

Aston Villa V Tottenham Hotspur: Match in a minute

Will history repeat itself?

This season's first-leg clash against Leipzig takes place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening, with the return leg at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday, March 10.

Two Spurs players likely to miss both games are Harry Kane and Moussa Sissoko as they are long-term injuries for head coach Jose Mourinho to contend with.

But how are Leipzig shaping up ahead of their trip to the capital?

Football.london takes a look.

In terms of injuries, Julian Nagelsmann will be without the quartet of Ibrahima Konaté, Willi Orban, Kevin Kampl and Tyler Adams.

The latter is out with a calf injury as confirmed by the Leipzig boss last week.

"There's some bad news. Tyler Adams pulled his calf yesterday. He will definitely miss Werder and Spurs," he said. "Otherwise, there's nothing new to report."

The good news for Leipzig is that they suffered no fresh injuries during their comfortable 3-0 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend.

In fact, with the points in the bag from as early as the 46th minute the likes of Lukas Klostermann, Konrad Laimer and January signing Dani Olmo were taken off to get some rest ahead of the Spurs game.

Furthermore, Timo Werner - linked with Spurs transfers - is fit as is Ethan Ampadu who is on loan in Germany from Chelsea this season, but Dayot Upamecano is suspended.
