'Up yours Stormzy' - what people have been saying as West Bridgford's LadBaby bags second Christmas number one

Scores of people have congratulated Notts YouTube star LadBaby who landed his second successive Christmas number one - but some weren't as supportive to his competitors.

Internet star and dad blogger Mark Hoyle, of West Bridgford, fought off the likes of Stormzy, Lewis Capaldi and Dua Lipa to take the festive top spot with charity single I Love Sausage Rolls.

The song is a twist on I Love Rock 'n' Roll by Joan Jett and follows in the footsteps of his 2018 Christmas number one We Built This City, an ode to sausage rolls parodying Starship's classic hit.

People have left their thoughts on Twitter and @Joe_Catchpole wrote: "Yesssss mateeeee, 2 in a row. Obviously I downloaded both."

@mptravers wrote: "Huge congratulations to #LadBaby on reaching #christmasnumber1," wrote @mptravers.

"All profits to the brilliant work of @TrussellTrust #foodbanks."

And @chigworld said: Another year, another song about sausage rolls, another #ChristmasNumber1 for #LadBaby.

"Quite astonishing, really. @officialcharts."

However, @dancullenmusic wasn't quite so complimentary about one of LadBaby's rivals, writing: "Well done for the Christmas no. 1 to LadBaby.

"Up yours @stormzy."

Meanwhile, @CelioCyl added: "Well done LadBaby. Can't wait for the vegan remix."

LadBaby's success means he is the first artist to score consecutive Christmas number ones in more than 20 years.

The Spice Girls were the last to achieve the feat, scoring three in a row in 1996 to 1998 with their hits 2 Become 1, Too Much and Goodbye.

Prior to that only The Beatles had back to back festive chart-toppers with I Want To Hold Your Hand, I Feel Fine and Day Tripper/We Can Work It Out from 1963 to 1965. Hello, Goodbye was their fourth in 1967.

All proceeds for the novelty song go to food bank charity The Trussell Trust for the second year running.

LadBaby told OfficialCharts.com: "How have we done this again? It's the best feeling in the world - it's a Christmas miracle yet again!

"Thank you everybody for supporting us once again, and all for an amazing cause. It's going to the Trussell Trust - to the 14 million people living in poverty in the UK. Who doesn't love a sausage roll at Christmas?"
