UP Warriorz's Sophie Ecclestone, Kiran Navigre fined for breaching WPL Code of Conduct

NEW DELHI: UP Warriorz players Sophie Ecclestone and Kiran Navgire were fined 10 percent of their match fees on Sunday for violating the Women's Premier League (WPL) Code of Conduct during their team's match against Delhi Capitals.

The sanctions were imposed for breaching Article 2.2 of the WPL's code of conduct during the match held on Friday.

"Both Sophie and Kiran admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 which relates to the abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match," stated a WPL media release.

"For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," the release further said.

The Warrioz secured a nail-biting one-run victory over the Delhi Capitals, fueled by a remarkable all-round performance by Deepti Sharma.

Deepti not only contributed with a half-century but also achieved a historic feat by becoming the first Indian and only the second player ever to claim a hat-trick in the league's history.
