Seven people have been killed and two more are missing after a strong storm swept through a base camp on Gurja Himal mountain in Nepal.

Four South Korean climbers who were attempting to scale the 7,193m peak, two of their Nepalese guides and another person yet to be identified were found dead by villagers on Saturday.

The search is continuing for two more people who are still missing.

Five South Korean climbers and four guides from Nepal were at the base camp when the storm hit.

Bad weather conditions prevented two rescue helicopters landing at the site early on Saturday.

It is unlikely that the weather will clear on Saturday.

A police team is heading towards the base camp on foot and is likely to reach the site on Sunday, police official Bir Bahadur Budamagar said.
