Up to 16 people die at Prestwick care home after outbreak of coronavirus, say reports

Up to 16 people have been killed by a coronavirus outbreak in a Prestwick care home, according to reports.

It is understood the deadly bug has ravaged Berelands Care Home on Boydfield Avenue.

Staff relayed the news today that the residents have passed away since the outbreak, with 16 related to Covid-19.

It comes after the news that four people have been killed by the bug in Ayr's Glenfairn Care Home.

Berelands is run by Priory Adult Care, who boast a network of more than 230 care homes nationwide.

The Post has contacted both Priory Adult Care and the Care Inspectorate for comment.
