Up to 1,000 workers at Indeed in Dublin told to stay away from office over coronavirus fears

Around 1,000 workers at a Dublin based company are being told to stay away from their office over coronavirus fears.

All staff at recruitment firm Indeed have been told to work from home immediately.

The measure has been put in place to prevent the possible spread of Covid-19.

A statement sent to employees, seen by the Irish Mirror, also stated that no member of staff has a confirmed case of the killer virus.

It said: "Indeed's top priority is the health and safety of our employees.

"As the COVID-19 coronavirus evolves into a global health concern, we have made the decision to ask all employees to work from home until further notice.

"Our goal is to minimize the risk to employees and help to lower the probability of the spread of the virus to you, your families and the communities where we operate."

Indeed has also called a halt to all business travel and cancel near-term events hosted by the firm.

The decisions were made "out of an abundance of caution", the statement continued.

"While we recognize these measures will be inconvenient for some, we will do our best to support you.

"We feel it is the right action to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees while still enabling us to continue to fulfill our mission of helping people get jobs."

Indeed closed its office in Dublin last month due to concerns an employee in Singapore may have been exposed to the virus.

Meanwhile, the majority of Google's 8,000 staff and contractors in Ireland have been informed to work from home after a staff member had flu-like symptoms.

It is believed to be unlikely that the worker has the virus.

And Twitter employees in Dublin have been told to work from home as fears grow over the deadly coronavirus.

The company, which currently employs nearly 200 people in its Dublin office, told its 5,000 employees worldwide to work remotely if possible to help stop the spread of the killer COVID-19 bug.
