UP: Standing crops destroyed in fire leaving villagers devastated in Maharajganj; no government compensation yet

Maharajganj: A few months back in Gidaha village of Sadar Block of the district, hundreds of acres of wheat crops was completely destroyed in fire. As a result, many farmers are on the verge of starvation. They are even compelled to postpone the wedding of their sons and daughters.

But because of the negligence of some officers concerned, the due compensation to the farmers has yet not been paid. So these farmers are worried about sowing the next crop as they don't have any money to buy seeds and fertilizers.

Some of the farmers, while talking to Dynamite News, broke out. They said they had submitted all the required documents for compensation but nothing has been done so far.

As per our sources, compensation is to be paid at the rate of Rs.12,000 per acre but to a maximum of Rs.40,000 for 5 acres.
