LUCKNOW: Positioning itself as the only option against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and accusing the regional parties of impeding the development of Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party will launch its 2022 poll campaign from Varanasi on October 10.
Party national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will address a public rally from Jagatpur Inter College ground. The UP Congress made an official announcement of the rally on Friday.
“People of UP are tired of the whimsical governments which kept their vested interests over public interest for over three decades. Congress is the only option against regressive forces and it will oust the BJP in 2022,” claimed party spokesperson Anshu Awasthi.
Former Congress MP Rajesh Mishra has been given the responsibility to oversee the preparations for the rally. Earlier, Priyanka returned to New Delhi after her five-day stay in Lucknow on Friday morning. Before her departure, she reportedly told workers to pull up their socks, forget everything else and dedicate their entire time to the party till the elections are over.
