UP polls: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra gives Congress’s youth manifesto to protesting BJP workers in Aligarh

AGRA: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was campaigning in Aligarh on Saturday evening, when some BJP workers purportedly hooted and raised pro-Yogi and Modi slogans.

Instead of losing her temper or ignoring them, she called out to the protesting BJP workers and handed them her party’s youth manifesto, advising them to read it and decide what was better for UP. In a video which was widely shared on social media, Priyanka can be seen interacting with the BJP workers, wearing a saffron cap with a party symbol and shouting slogans. They refused to take a copy of ‘Bharti Vidhan’, when she offered it to them.

Last month, Congress party had launched its youth manifesto, “Bharti Vidhan”, which promises 20 lakh job opportunities and lays out the party’s vision for the youth in the state. Priyanka conducted a door-to-door campaign in Aligarh for Congress candidates in Iglas, Khair and Aligarh (city) assembly constituencies— Preeti Dhangar Monika Suryavanshi and Salman Imtiaz, respectively.

Interacting with voters, the Congress leader took a dig at UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath over his recent “take out heat” remark and said basic issues should be discussed during elections. “We are talking of ‘bharti’ (recruitment). A number of youths who are standing here are jobless. Around 12 lakh posts are lying vacant in the government,” she said.
