UP polls: Mayawati mum on exit polls, Mishra confident of BSP win

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Tuesday maintained a stoic silence on the exit polls which projected a dismal performance by her party in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections even as senior leaders claimed that the media is biased against the BSP.

“Behenji (Mayawati) has been saying this during her campaign that the media is highly biased against us. Look at 2007 assembly elections when the BSP came to power with a clear majority. Then too, exit polls had predicted that we would finish third. BSP has done extremely well this time and the results will be surprising,” a senior party member said.

Party general secretary and MP SC Mishra also assured the cadre and supporters that BSP would form the government. In a statement addressed to supporters, Mishra said the selfless work done by BSP workers would yield positive results and the party would come to power on March 10.

“We thank all the workers and booth in charge who have put in hard work under the leadership of ‘Behen’ Mayawati, whose efforts have strengthened the BSP movement,” he said.
