UP Police arrest 74 Rohingyas residing illegally in state

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad arrested 74 Rohingyas residing illegally in the state under a special operation.

Special DG Law and Order, Prashant Kumar said that a special 24-hour operation was carried out on input of intel agencies of Rohingyas residing in UP on forged documents.

The ATS teams raided six districts of UP, which included Saharanpur, Meerut, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Aligarh and Mathura.

Kumar said that as many as 55 men were arrested including 14 women, three minor boys and two minor girls. FIRs are being registered in the police stations of the districts concerned.

ATS said that the two identified as Armaan alias Abu Talha and Abdul Amin who had illegally brought Rohingyas to India from Myanmar and Bangladesh, impersonating them as Indians based on forged documents and sending them abroad through human-trafficking, were arrested in March 2023, based on
