LUCKNOW: In a daring act, four miscreants, posing as customers, looted jewellery from a shop holding the proprietor at gunpoint in Sector B of Lucknow’s Aliganj area in UP on Wednesday.
Four years ago, a similar heist had taken place in the jewellery shop.
According to police, around 1pm, owner Nikhil Agrawal was at his shop on Chandganj road near Lucknow Nagar Nigam office when two miscreants got off a motorcycle and entered the shop.
Two of them stood guard on the bike outside the shop, while the other two entered the shop and pointed a pistol at Nikhil.
They looted gold of about 500 gram and cash and put them inside a polythene bag.
However, in an act of courage, an employee, Shrawan Kumar, intercepted them, but was shot at.
The goons left and sped away on their bike.
Thereafter, Nikhil called the control room and a police team arrived.
Senior police officers — including ADCP, north, Prachi Singh and assistant commissioner of police, Aliganj, Syed Ali Abbas — along with a force comprising sleuths of surveillance and crime branch reached the place.
ASP Abbas said that Shrawan was recuperating at KGMU trauma center while preliminary investigations revealed that recce was done before the miscreants looted the jewelry shop.
"We have got CCTV footage from the spot and we are working to crack the case," he said.
