UP: Dense fog blanket for next two days

LUCKNOW: After a wet spell, brace for dense fog. The state Met department on Monday issued warning on possibilities of thick fog in many parts of the state, including Lucknow, on Tuesday.

State Met director JP Gupta said that the recent rains have left behind moisture in the atmosphere which will convert into fog due to fall in night temperatures. Dense fog is expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thereafter, its density will decline and moderate fog will occur till the weekend.

The rains occurred under the influence of a western disturbance over Himalayas and cyclonic circulations over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. During the period, these weather factors were active, the flow of the winds from snow fed mountains towards plains was restricted.

However, now when the systems have fizzled out, the cold wind has revived which will gradually bring down the minimum temperatures by 4 degrees in coming days.

The Met department warning stated that dense Fog is very likely over Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Sant Ravi Das Nagar, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Hapur, Kasganj, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Budaun and adjoining areas.
