UP cops soft on criminals, brutal with citizens, says Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

LUCKNOW: Accusing UP Police of being soft on criminals and brutal with common people, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday said the law of jungle prevails in UP.

Priyanka, who is in Lucknow to review poll preparations, was commenting on the death of a Kanpur businessman after being allegedly thrashed by cops. “Jungle raj prevails under this government. Police are soft on criminals and behave barbarously with common people,’ she tweeted. “The state government should provide justice to every victim’s family and ensure such incidents do not happen again,” she added.

Manish Gupta (36) of Kanpur died after a police raid at a Gorakhpur hotel, prompting authorities to suspend six cops and charge them with murder.

Meanwhile, Priyanka held back-to-back meetings with party cadres to formulate the party campaign plan for 2022 elections. She also met doctors and health workers and thanked them for their services during the corona pandemic.
