AGRA: A UP cop's missing daughter whose burning body was found flung on a highway in Agra on Wednesday was allegedly raped before being set on fire by her boyfriend and his father, senior officers involved in the probe said on Friday.
Accused Ashish Tomar, 22, who is pursuing graduation from a college in Agra and was in the same school as the girl earlier, has been sent to judicial custody along with his father Mukesh Tomar.
Rape charges have been added to the FIR after Ashish "confessed" he had sexually assaulted the college student.
The accused was earlier booked under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence).
According to the missing person complaint lodged by the victim's father, the B Com second year student had left for her college at around 9.30am on May 30 but did not return home.
SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh said the victim’s burning body was found on the highway about two days later by a police team returning from patrol duty. They immediately sent the half-burnt body for postmortem.
The report revealed that the victim was “strangulated”, police said. The girl, police said, was in a "relationship" with the accused, who was “putting pressure on her to marry him”.
