LUCKNOW: Citing that the shortage of naib tehsildars in the state was causing problems in implementation of development works and revenue-related issues, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday handed out appointment letters to 110 newly inducted naib tehsildars.
These 110 are part of a total of 145 naib tehsildars who have been selected by the UP Public Service Commission. Letters to the remaining 35 will be issued as soon as their police verification and other formalities are complete.
“To achieve the goals of any welfare state, the police station and tehsil play critical roles. The appointment of the naib tehsildars will help in quick resolution of matters related to tehsils,” the CM said.
He added that about 90% of all revenue disputes are small issues and by addressing these during tehsil diwas, they can be resolved on the spot.
The naib tehsildars can also play an important role in achieving goals of good governance and development, the CM said.
Saying that merit is the only criteria for getting government jobs in the state now, Yogi said that under previous governments, jobs were based on discrimination and corruption while his government had made it clear that its decisions would be taken on the basis of merit and not on the basis of caste, religion, village or district.
“Many youths who are getting appointment letters under our government must have appeared for several examinations even before 2017 but, due to the corrupt system and wrong intentions and policies of those governments, talented youth felt discouraged and was forced to migrate to other states,” he said.
The CM added that the image of UP had changed since his government came to power in 2017.
“Honesty and transparency are key elements of this new work culture,” he said.
