UP: Boyfriend 'high on aphrodisiac' booked for rape, murder of girl, 18

KANPUR: Four days after an 18-year-old girl was found dead in her house on Thursday, her boyfriend, 25, was arrested and booked for her rape and murder.

According to police, the youth had taken an overdose of an aphrodisiac from a local medical shop when he forced himself on the girl who later bled to death.

The accused, Ram Baran Gautam, was arrested from near Samrat Hotel in Unnao on Sunday. Police said the alleged lover of the girl confessed to having sexually assaulted the girl when she was alone at her house.

The girl, who was pursuing her BSc (second year) from a college in Ajgain area, was found dead in her house with no external injury marks or bruises.

"The accused said that he had consumed three tablets of powerful aphrodisiacs. It was probably due to which the girl bled profusely and fainted. After the girl fainted, the alleged lover fled the spot leaving her in a bleeding condition, following which, she died later," said an officer privy to the probe.

According to the postmortem report, the girl died due to shock and hemorrhage following excessive bleeding from her private parts, said inspector Kotwali Rajesh Pathak. "According to the doctors who conducted the postmortem, people with injuries that involve heavy bleeding may go into hemorrhagic shock if the bleeding isn't stopped immediately. Similarly, in this case too, the accused forcefully had sex with the victim, following which, injuries were caused internally and the victim died when she did not get timely treatment. In the autopsy report, there is no mention of any injury on any other parts of the body. Whatever injury was caused, it was caused internally," he said further.

The father of the deceased later lodged a case of rape and murder against the youth.

Unnao superintendent of police Siddharth Shankar Meena said the accused was booked under sections 302 (murder) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code. "Right now, the report of rape and murder is being investigated and whatever more facts come forward, the sections will be increased."

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
