UP Board intermediate English paper leak: 17 arrested in Ballia, 3 FIRs lodged

VARANASI: At least 17 persons including district inspector of school and teacher of a college of Haripur Gadwar were arrested in Ballia district following lodging of FIRs with Kotwali, Nagra and Sikandarpur police station in the case of leak of UP Board’s intermediate examination’s English paper on Wednesday.

District magistrate Ballia Indra Vikram Singh and SP Rajkaran Nayyar said that following initial investigation in the allegations of leak of English paper of UP Board intermediate examination three FIRs were lodged with Kotwali, Nagra and Sikandarpur police stations.

Nayyar said that in all these three cases 17 persons including DIOS Brajesh Mishra and a college teacher Ajit Ojha have been arrested so far. Further investigation is continuing, they added.

Taking serious note of the paper of English of UP Board intermediate examination getting viral on social media and also in some newspapers the DM and SP of Ballia formed several teams of the officials, which collected evidences. On the basis of same the city magistrate Pradeep Kumar gave a complaint to Kotwali police. On his complaint an FIR under sections 4, 5, 6 of UP Public Examinations (Prevention of unfair means) Act, section 420 of IPC and 66B of IT Act was lodged against DIOS, Ojha and one unidentified person. Of them two were arrested.

Similar FIR was lodged with Nagra police station in which 10 accused persons were arrested. Sikandarpur police also arrested five accused persons after lodging one more FIR in this connection.
