UP Board English paper leaked, exam scrapped in 24 districts

LUCKNOW/VARANASI: The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) cancelled the Class 12 English exam in 24 districts on Wednesday, following a paper leak at Ballia district, hours before the test’s scheduled start at 2pm. It will be held in these districts on April 13. This comes just four months after UP TET was called off after a paper leak, triggering a mammoth crackdown on the copying syndicate.

Less than an hour after the paper was widely circulated on social media and local WhatsApp groups in Ballia and a few eastern UP districts, police searched residences of government school teachers and coaching institutes. Three FIRs were lodged and Ballia DIOS Brijesh Kumar Mishra and 16 managers of coaching institutes were arrested.

Mishra was also suspended for laxity and indifference.

The state ordered probe STF and directed police to charge all accused under NSA.
