PRAYAGRAJ: After prominent seers and saints issued a clarion call to the Hindu community to re-elect Mahant Yogi Adityanath as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, volunteers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday connected with thousands of kalpwasis and pilgrims with an appeal for 100 per cent voting on the theme of ‘Rastra Pratham’ (nation first).
Ahead of the high-voltage Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, the RSS has activated its cadre across the state to build support and the volunteers of Kashi prant found the ongoing Magh Mela a good occasion to connect with voters as thousands of people, including seers, devotees and pilgrims are arriving to take the holy dip.
Teams of RSS volunteers interacted with devotees, daily wage workers, pilgrims who arrived from different parts of the state and distributed pamphlets titled “Asmita Ke Prateek: Hamare Dharmik Sthal” among visitors.
Dr Morar Ji Tripathi, Prant Prachark (RSS, Kashiprant) told TOI, “As many as five teams of our volunteers interacted with seers, saints, kalpwasis, daily wagers, devotees and pilgrims in all five sectors on Sunday and appealed to ensure cent percentage and voting on the theme of ‘Rashtra Pratham’ (nation first).”
Each team of 150 volunteers of all ranks and office-bearers started interacting with devotees and pilgrims and urged them to promise that they would surely cast their votes on the scheduled polling dates of their districts, he added.
“We also interacted with people of all sections of the society in the five sectors of the Magh Mela campus and asked them about the changes they have noticed at four religious places — Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath temple, Mata Vindhyavashi temple (Mirzapur), Mathura and others in the past five years and apprised them about the importance to preserve our religious places,” Tripathi added.
Our volunteers also told the visitors about Prayag Kumbh 2019 and how its grandeur boosted the image and the theme of ‘Kumbh Parv Bhi, Garv Bhi’ had clicked with all those who had visited, Tripathi said.
“Kumbh 2019 had put our country on the world map then, as foreign dignitaries of more than 172 countries had visited the Kumbh and witnessed its spiritual magnificence and splendour,” he added.
RSS volunteers also interacted with devotees and pilgrims and asked them how they felt about the corridor projects at Kashi and Mirzapur being taken up by the BJP-led Union government in the past five years.
