UP: Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti express decouples near Babina

LUCKNOW: A major train accident was averted on Friday, after Tirupati bound Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti express coaches decoupled in Jhansi.

The decoupling was reported at around 12:20 pm near Chandwani village which is a few kilometers away from Babina railway station.

At the time of decoupling, the express was cruising at around 70 kmph but surprisingly not a single passenger or train crew reported injury.

According to railway official sources, a yoke pin which helps in coupling of two coaches broke between S3-S4 coaches. The decoupling created a sense of panic among passengers.

PRO department of Jhansi division said, "There were no immediate trains behind the Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti express. The train was coupled and its journey toward Bhopal started after 140 minutes."

"Further, the train maintenance department at Tirupati will probe the matter," added the PRO department.
