UP: Active Covid-19 cases up 28 times in 10 days, but only 1% in hospitals

LUCKNOW: The active case load in UP has increased by over 28 times in the past 10 days, as per the state health department data on Monday. The state recorded 8,334 new Covid-19 cases.

Though UP has 33,946 active cases now, a total 33, 563 are recovering in home isolation. This means only 1% of the patients are in hospitals.

The maximum cases on Monday were recorded in Gautam Budh Nagar (1,223), Lucknow (1,114), Ghaziabad (1,385) and Meerut (1,071).

They also account for the highest burden of active cases. The active cases have increased at a faster rate in these four districts. On an overall scale, 34 districts in UP have more than 100 active cases.

ACS, health and family welfare, informed TOI that 335 patients recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 16,88,983 since the pandemic hit. He said that four patients succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours. With this the Covid toll for UP reached 22,932 which speaks for an increment of 17 in 10 days. Health officials requested people to get vaccinated at the earliest .
