LUCKNOW: In a freak incident, an 11-year-old boy was accidentally shot by a 10-year-old while playing 'chor-sipahi' in Kaushambi district on Saturday evening. Karari police said that the incident took place when the 'accused', who is the son of a local political functionary, used a loaded licensed pistol, which was kept in the house, while playing.
Kaushambi SP Hemraj Meena told TOI that around 7 pm, three children, including one aged 10 whose father owned the pistol and 11-year-old victim along with nine-year-old boy from the neighbourhood, were playing 'chor-sipahi'. The house belonged to a political party functionary, who is the father of the accused boy.
"In the meantime, a gunshot was heard and neighbours ran inside to find the 11-year-old lying in a pool of blood while the 10-year-old crying out loudly. The third kid was hiding underneath the bed," Meena said.
The locals immediately took the victim to the nearest hospital where he was declared brought dead, SP Meena said, adding that prima facie it had come to fore that while playing, the 10-year-old took out the pistol from the almirah and fired accidentally.
"Forensic experts have also visited the spot and a detailed probe will be carried out in the incident. The parents of the 10-year-old were not in home when the incident took place," he added. Police also said that the neighbours told them that all the three were friends and used to play together regularly.
