Unveiling Opportunities For Saudi Exports in Iraqi Markets

The Saudi-Iraqi trade mission event will be launched in Riyadh on Sunday, with the participation of more than 130 Iraqi and Saudi enterprises.

“Saudi Export Development Authority (SEDA) will organize in Riyadh the work of the Saudi-Iraqi Trade Mission, where more than 130 Saudi companies from the construction and food sectors and a number of Iraqi companies will participate,” the official SPA news agency said.

Partaking entities will discuss and explore opportunities to boost Saudi exports to Iraq, as part of SEDA’s strategy to increase non-oil exports and boost the number of opportunities local products have for entering international markets.

SEDA has undertaken the organization of meetings between Saudi exporters on the one hand and potential buyers from Iraq on the other. One of the many objectives upheld by the Authority is promoting Saudi exports as one of the most important branches of the national economy and integral part to the diversification of sources of income, a goal set by Kingdom Vision 2030.

SEDA Secretary-General Saleh Al-Salami said that this trade mission confirms the depth of the historical relations shared between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, which are echoed in present cooperation and mutual understanding on various levels, especially on trade and economic partnership.

Al-Salami pointed out that the kingdom's non-oil exports to Iraq during the past five years reached about $2.6 billion dollars, adding that the Kingdom's exports to Iraq during the year 2018 amounted to over $640 million dollars.

It is worth noting that the SEDA also works toward better opportunities for Saudi export by providing market guides and feasibility studies on demand. It also promotes Saudi products at international exhibitions.

SEDA is determined to meet the aspirations set forth by the Kingdom Vision 2030, a plan for Saudi transformation and economic diversification.
