Unvaccinated woman, 30, loses arms and legs to Covid as mum makes jab plea

An unvaccinated woman lost her arms and legs after catching coronavirus, prompting her mum to call on people to get the jab.

Hospital worker Paige Davis, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, said her adult daughter Candice's limbs were amputated after she was ravaged by Covid.

The 30-year-old was placed on a life support machine after being hospitalised in Philadelphia on August 17.

She suffered permanent damage to her arms and legs - reportedly caused by poor circulation - and doctors had to amputate the limbs to save her life.

Ms Davis said her son also caught Covid, however he was vaccinated and made a quick recovery.

Speaking about her daughter, she added: "Her goal was to get the vaccination, but she just didn't get to it. So, she wasn't vaccinated and it took out her heart.

"She lost one arm below the elbow, the other arm above the elbow, one leg below the knee, and a half a foot on the right.

"I didn't think Covid could take limbs."

The young woman's condition is improving and her mother shared images of her reading the Bible in her hospital bed.

Ms Davis said: "She hurts, she's going through it, she beats herself up. She cries more than all of us, but she's the strongest link between the both of us because of what happened to her."

The mother also urged citizens to get the Covid jab: "I just wish everybody would get the shot, my thing is what have you got to lose."

According to reports, Candice will soon be fitted with prosthetic limbs ahead of a long period of physiotherapy and recovery.

Her brother Starr may also need to consider relocating to a more accessible home for them to live in Philadelphia when she leaves hospital.

It comes after another Covid patient, Autumn Nugent, 32, lost both her hands and feet as after suffering complications caused by coronavirus.

Her doctor Dr Wesley Ely from Nashville, US, tweeted: "Covid took her hands and feet.

"Covid-19 is a disease of blood vessels that can affect your lungs, heart, brain, or any organ. Blood clotting sucks life from vital organs.

“This patient asked to have her story shared so that others may learn and seek vaccination.”

The medic explained that complications from the virus caused blood clots in Autumn's arms and legs, resulting in wounds that resembled burns.
