Unvaccinated NSW man fined for allegedly entering hotel

A man has been fined $1000 in NSW for allegedly bypassing vaccination restrictions and entering a licensed venue.

Police allege the 25-year-old Bungendore man entered the premises on November 19 after being let in by another man through a side entrance.

The man was discovered by hotel staff shortly after, and was unable to produce a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or exemption when prompted.

He was asked to leave following this encounter.

On November 21 police spoke with the male, and he was subsequently issued with a $1000 infringement for breaching public health requirements.

People in NSW must be fully vaccinated in order to visit a hospitality venue, and must be able to prove this by carrying a vaccination certificate or exemption.

The rules will ease on December 15 to allow people who are not fully vaccinated more freedoms.
