luvsdb8s sent us this romantic photo of two friends getting married in front of Yosemite Falls.
First Dance
As a wedding photographer I've documented a fair few weddings over the years, but friends weddings are the best. Lisa and Drew decided to get married in front of Yosemite Falls, and one of their friends paid $100 to become the officiator the wedding! I love how such a beautiful wedding was created on such a low budget. Most of the guests were barefoot, including the officiator!
kitlittle shares a kiss with her new husband outside their wedding venue; the Bodleian Library in Oxford.
Wedding in a library
My Husband Sam and I were married at the Bodleian Library in Oxford. The room we were married in (the Divinity School) has been used as a film location for Harry Potter and the Library team very kindly let us drive our car into the main quad, where this photo was taken.
Having your wedding ceremony and reception in two separate countries may sound stressful, but according to REBECCAJANEBRIDGID this is definitely not the case.
We got Married in London and Dublin on the same day!
Will and I got married in 2000 pre 9/11. We were married in Central London at 10 am and then flew with 96 wedding guests to Dublin where we were joined by another 50 guests and our reception was held in my parents home at 3 pm! You could never pull it off now with all the restrictions in airports and I didn't even check myself in! but we did have lots of fun all dressed up in the airports. I felt a bit sorry for the people on our flight that weren't part of the wedding party, but they all joined in the spirit of the day.
CelebrantPenelope shared this photo of Graeme and Catriona’s wedding ceremony on board a ferry. Wobbly signatures aside it looked like a joyous occasion.
Married on board the Cromarty Queen: Graeme & Catriona
The ferry sails between Nigg & Cromarty - and I was the lucky celebrant! Our signatures were slightly wobbly...
Glittermonkeys’s recent wedding day involved multi-ride passes for guests in a Copenhagen amusement park.
Dublin to Copenhagen
I got married last week in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. The reception involved our guests getting multi-ride passes for amusements and the evening ended with a fireworks display. It was perfect!
Some weddings are held in the most exotic locations, such as RoryH’s big day which was spent on top of a sand dune in the Namib desert.
Wedding Ceremony
My wife Nancy and I were married on October 28, 2009. The ceremony took place under a temporary canopy on top of a sand dune at Wolwedans in the Namib desert. Had we been looking, we would probably have seen an oryx stroll by in the background.
And speaking of scenic wedding ceremony locations CelebrantPenelope shared this photo of a humanist wedding ceremony from Stac Pollaidh in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland.
Stac Pollaidh: an iconic Highland hill for a fabulous outdoor wedding!
We held the wedding close to this spot - the rule for a venue is that it must be 'safe & dignified', which was a good excuse for my cowardice... For a couple who are keen walkers a favourite hill with a bit of a climb is a meaningful place to get married. From all the Assynt hills the view every side is spectacular, too. Humanist celebrants are authorised to marry couples anywhere in Scotland - aren' we lucky!
The accompanying alpaca farm was a wedding venue deal clincher for ID666143 and her husband.
Llama told me there would be days like this...
My husband and I chose our wedding venue because of the accompanying alpaca farm and were thrilled when two of the residents, including young Rupert here, accepted our invitation to join us in December 2010.
Not many people will experience a wedding in a supermarket, but kleeontoast might be one of the fortunate few.
Supermarket Ceremony
A colleague of mine in NZ will be getting married in a very well known supermarket in October, with Tiki Tane performing..!? If that's not an unusual wedding then I don't know what is. There isn't even a sentimental story to it either - they just felt like it!
TimmRanson shared this lovely photo of a rural wedding taking place in Essex.

No chance of the bouquet hitting the ceiling here.
What do you do when the bride doesn’t particularly want to be the centre of attention? Kevin Gibbs had the perfect answer by hiring a hot air balloon with only the happy couple’s nearest and dearest joining them.
Hot Air Balloon Wedding
My Wife doesn't like to be the centre of attention, which is a bit difficult when you're the Bride, so we decided to get married in a Balloon at sunrise, with just the pilot, our 2 kids, the photographer and two witnesses.
Gobhar sent in this image of the perfect lochside wedding, capturing an intimate moment between the bride and groom.
Delightful lochside wedding in the Cairngorms National Park June 2014
This was probably the best wedding I have ever been to - the humanist ceremony was at beautiful Loch Garten with its soft light and enveloped by amazing birdsong, followed by a wonderful village hall reception and ceilidh in Boat of Garten.
SugarPlumpFairy thinks that their clifftop wedding experience proves that love conquers all.
Roman Catholic/ Jewish Wedding on Bermuda Clifftop
Under a huppah on a clifftop overlooking the turquoise Atlantic Ocean, with both a Catholic priest and a Rabbi presiding over ceremonies. Was a brilliant reminder that love is the most important thing in a marriage and everything else is window dressing. They are still together 20 years later.
Lauren Bell and her husband dreamed of the perfect winter wedding, and the venue doesn’t get much more wintery than Northern Finland.
Lapland Snow Village Wedding
We got married in the Snow Village in Northern Finland, almost 200km above the Arctic Circle. We had just 7 guests for the ceremony inside the ice chapel and then a sit down meal inside the warm log cabin restaurant. The day was amazing - the ultimate winter wedding we had dreamed of.
It’s not easy avoiding cold feet when the wedding ceremony takes place in a lake. Alyson Bone shared this image of the happy couple at Buttermere.
Wedding in a Lake
Richard and Emma Bone in a Lake at Buttermere. The reception was in tipis in a field.
Bowling enthusiasts everywhere take note. Your favourite bowling alley might well become a future wedding hot spot. Rob Barr shared this photo from his perfect wedding day.
The UK's first wedding in a bowling alley
As soon as we walked in the venue we knew this was the place for us and what an amazing day our wedding was. We got married in front of the bowling pins and used the bowling lane as a catwalk....it worked perfectly. Gormet diner food including burgers & pulled pork....a bowling competition of course and loads of great music till the wee hours. The staff were amazing and couldn't have done more to make sure everyone was having a fantatsic time.
Last but not least Lisa van den Eynde shared this video of her wedding day involving a large field, a circus tent and appropriate accommodation for the guests.
wedding in the fields
We had our wedding in the field of my grandfather this weekend. We partied in a huge circustent and had the celebration with a priest outside. A 130 persons slept int little tents at the location.
