Gabrielle Nankivell’s Wildebeest, which premiered in 2014 as part of Sydney Dance Company’s New Breed showcase, returns to the stage alongside a new work by Rafael Bonachela.
Nankivell’s animalistic piece showcases the power of dancers en mass, backed by an industrial score by Luke Smiles. Bonechala’s piece about freedom is set to a classical soundtrack by Grammy nominee Dobrinka Tabakova, Concerto for Cello and Strings. It provides a counterpoint to Wildebeest, but showcases physicality just as well.
