Unsold Winter Wonderland food to be given to Nottingham homeless

Unsold Winter Wonderland food will be given out to Nottingham's homeless community every night over the festive period.

Event organiser Mellors Group will be serving hot dishes from the decking area outside Sur La Piste at 10.30pm each evening. The food is being provided by the vendors of the Christmas market and would ordinarily be thrown away.

“Christmas is a time for giving and sharing and we couldn’t think of a better way to do it,” said Edward Mellors, a director of the Mellors Group. “Instead of letting good food go to waste, we thought it would be nice to share it with those who need it most.”

Nottingham Winter Wonderland, in Old Market Square, and the festive attraction will be open every day, apart from Christmas Day, until Tuesday, December 31.

Opening times

Christmas market: 10am-6pm, ever day, late night shopping, December 17-22, 10am-8pm

Sur La Piste ski lodge: 10am-11pm, Monday-Thursday, 10am-midnight, Friday-Saturday, 10am-10pm, Sunday

Ice bar: Sessions from 1.15pm-10pm

Ice rink: 11am-8pm, Sunday-Monday (except Christmas Eve and Boxing Day), 11am-9pm, Friday-Saturday
